As you make your way north along the Pacific Coast Highway, you’ll get a change of scenery traveling inland through the Dairylands and back out to the coast again. Take the opportunity to check out north scenic drives & viewpoints, some of the best sights on the Oregon Coast located just north of Lincoln City.
Three Capes Scenic Loop
This drive offers some of the most beautiful views along the Oregon Coast. At just under 40 miles, this adventure takes you from Pacific City to Tillamook along pristine coastline
Headed north, beginning in Pacific City with Cape Kiwanda and it’s beautiful views, you’ll travel through the dunes at Sand Lake where you will reach Cape Lookout, a massive headland that juts more than two miles out to sea. Follow Netarts Bay, then pass through the quaint communities of Netarts and Oceanside and head to Cape Meares. To complete the drive, skirt along Tillamook Bay and you wind up on the west side of Tillamook.
Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area
Located in Pacific City, it’s one of the best places to experience spectacular wave action and the perfect place to view Haystack Rock. Some cliffside areas of the park are fenced for your safety. Read and follow all warnings on site, and never hop over a fence.
Cape Lookout State Park
Take the Cape Lookout trail, which follows the headland for more than two miles. A bench is located at the end of the trail, and your view awaits!
Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint
Situated on a headland over 200 feet above the ocean providing exquisite views to the south. Great for whale watching and has an excellent view of the largest colony of nesting common murres. Take the opportunity to view the Cape Meares Lighthouse while you’re there.
Munson Creek Falls State Natural Site
An easy walk from the parking area to the falls. Munson Creek Falls in one of the tallest in Oregon and offers a spectacular forested view. A word of warning though, rough road ahead!
Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge
Take the Pacific View Trail and you will experience an easy walk on a paved surface. The trail ends at an observation deck where you will be treated to a sweeping view of the Pacific Ocean, Haystack Rock, Nestucca Bay, the Coast Range, and the Little Nestucca River.
Between Tillamook and Garibaldi, there is a small wayside with an interpretive kiosk along Tillamook Bay. This location provides sweeping views of this sprawling bay.
