Guided by our local expert, travel to the mudflats of Siletz Bay at low tide. Our guide will provide an overview of Oregon’s clamming regulations, harvest methods, identification, cleaning, and cooking techniques. Armed with expert information, enjoy the hunt and see how many clams you can dig up.
Each clammer is allowed a limit of 72 Purple Varnish clams to take home. Clamming Exploriences last approximately one to two hours. This program is free and registration is not required.
Clamming Explorience attendees should meet at the gravel pullout in the Cutler City District just north of the former Bay House Restaurant, on the west side of Highway 101. Travel south on Highway 101 in Lincoln City, through the traffic signal at SW 51st Street, cross the Schooner Creek Bridge and go past the asphalt-paved Schooner Creek wayside parking area. Park at the next gravel pullout south of the wayside.
