Spring Is Here!

Spring on the coast is a really magical time. We get a break from the winter rain with short days and we join the flora and fauna by getting outside and soaking in some much needed sunshine.

Local hikes and scenery are vibrant in color and it is truly a breath of fresh air for all. Everyone is itching to enjoy it so here are a few fun ideas for all ages.

Did you know Lincoln City has one of the coolest skateparks in Oregon? Skaters from all over the state come out to share this incredible 40,000 square foot concrete jungle. Dreamland Skate Parks first started this project back in 1999 and at the time was referred to as “the gnarliest skate park in America” by Thrasher Magazine. It now has four separate bowls: The Moguls Bowl, The Cradle and Half Pipe (covered), The Swimming Pool, which features tight transitions, and the newest addition, the Snake Run. It’s an amazing place to simply grab a picnic and watch as skaters learn new tricks and shred around. Don’t forget your helmet - they're required for ages 16 years and younger, but encouraged all around.

May is National Wine Month and also includes a National Wine Day. And although Lincoln City doesn’t have any local wineries (yet), there are plenty of places to enjoy a glass of your favorite Vino. Black Squid Beer House can serve you up a tasty glass of wine, cider, mead, or a huge selection of beer from all over Oregon. They have outdoor seats that are dog friendly, and oftentimes you'll find Calle food stand serving up delicious grilled food, or you can even bring your own. Or, grab your beverage of choice and head to the beach!

Beachcrest Brewing Company has one of the best outdoor patios in the area complete with a beautiful view of the Salishan Golf Course. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch them hosting live local music outside. They brew their own beer, serve local bottles of wine and other drinks such as kombucha.

Similar to Beachcrest, Aces Sports Bar & Grill has a beautiful view of the Chinook Winds Golf Course. It’s on a hill so you really get a visual of the towering trees and green courses. They have quite the selection, with 28 rotating taps to chose from, wine, and cocktails.

We won’t speak for everyone, but it seems like most moms would love to be spoiled on Mother's Day. A perfect way to do that is to take her to the beach and watch the sunset from the comfort of your own hotel room. Luckily for you, Lincoln City has a plethora of oceanfront hotels and vacation rentals that fit every one of your needs.

Recently remodeled, The Coho Oceanfront Lodge has carefully appointed and reclaimed materials with the Earth in mind. They also have specific wings that are adult-only, so you get to choose which distractions you want to escape. Perched on a cliff, this property provides an unobstructed panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, the Coho offers complimentary enclosed fires at night, right in front of the hotel looking out to the ocean.

Chinook Winds Casino Resort has plenty of options for oceanfront lodging, like their all-junior suite building, situated on the south side of their property. Amenities include a wet bar, fireplace and private balcony for you to comfortably enjoy the crashing sound of the waves. They have complimentary shuttles to and from the casino just a call away, or you can head to the beach within just a few steps. You'll find two on-site restaurants, Rogue River Steakhouse and Chinook Seafood Grill, hosting specials just for mom.
