Breakfast at the Beach
Everyone has heard the saying “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” but who has time for that? Well, when you’re on vacation on the Oregon Coast, you’ll have plenty of downtime to catch up on this important meal. Especially after a fun evening of karaoke, dancing, and mischief, you’ll need a place to power up for the day. Here are a few places to nosh on your favorite morning meals.
Wild Flower Grill
This quaint cottage restaurant serves up big portions of house-made delights. Their famous Wild Flower toast, made from scratch in-house, goes great over eggs Benedict or with an omelet. If you have a sweet tooth, try the French toast, made with cinnamon and sugar. Or, go for the pancakes, which are almost too big for the plate! Wash it all down with black coffee, made especially for the restaurant from Sisters Coffee Company.
This cash-only spot in the Nelscott district is a surfer’s dream spot. With surfboards and memorabilia lining the walls, you’ll definitely feel like you’re in sunny Southern California. Spice things up with one of their homemade poppers, jalapenos stuffed with eggs, cheese, bacon and garlic. Also popular is the Monte Cristo sandwich, a giant triple stack of Texas toast, ham, Swiss and grilled chicken breast smothered in maple syrup and powdered sugar. When you walk into the restaurant, your nose will be warmly greeted by the smell of cinnamon rolls. Made fresh from scratch daily with love and care, these large and gooey delicacies are perfect to start your day.
Pacific Grind Café
For those with lighter morning appetites, Pacific Grind is great for a quick cup of Joe. Not only are their coffee beans ground fresh in-house, their homemade bagels with a schmear is the perfect pairing. If you are in the mood for more sustenance, try one of their egg burritos. These 12” burritos are stuffed with fresh veggies, eggs, cheese and your choice of meat.
With gorgeous views of Devils Lake, Vivian’s is a hidden breakfast gem that is worth seeking out. This BBQ joint serves up large portions, so make sure to pack your appetite. A few signature dishes to look out for are the smoked brisket and eggs, the country fried steak and their scratch-made corned beef hash. Even their homemade biscuits, each one the size of a softball, are a meal in themselves.
