Barry Poulter
Who is that colorful guy with the straw hat, English accent, and gorgeous handcrafted kites? All signs point to Barry Poulter, one of the featured fliers at the 2006 Lincoln City Kite Festival. Barry, or Bazzer, launched his kite career in his home country of England, but now lives in Lakewood, Washington. Trained in fine art and design, Barry loves to apply those skills to kites, both with the surface artwork and on the shape of the kite.

Barry is well known for his intricate “celtic knot” style of appliquéd single line kites, which have been flown in Lincoln City at past festivals. Recently he has been working on new designs and colors. He took several current kite creations to the 2005 American Kitefliers Association Convention in Maryland last October and came home with two first place awards and the trophy for highest score in craftsmanship.

Barry has a passion for sharing his knowledge of kites and kitemaking. He would love to pass along insights and wisdom to you. So, when you see the guy in the straw hat, saunter on over, strike up a conversation, and catch the kite flying fever. To quote Barry from a Kitelife.com interview, “Please enjoy my kites… I do”.
