Team iQuad- The More Lines the Better
iQuad is a group of dedicated four line kite fans who came together in the spring of 2006 with one goal in mind, the promotion of quad team flying. This type of stunt kite flying has been a mainstay of European kite flying for many years, starting back in the early 90’s.
Co-founders of iQuad, John Barresi of Portland, Oregon and David Hathaway of Burnaby, British Columbia, spent time recently at the 20th anniversary of the Berck-sur-Mer Kite Festival in France. The quad flying they witnessed there convinced them it was time to give this unique form of kiting a higher profile in North America. iQuad was born.
Using fliers from all over the United States and Canada, iQuad is primarily composed of six core fliers, but also incorporates other able fliers into mega flies any chance they get. Seventeen fliers joined iQuad at a recent festival for a giant quad routine.
Team iQuad is infectious fun to watch. They won two People’s Choice awards at the 2006 Washington State International Kite Festival.
