Al Washington
Passionate About Kites!

Al Washington loves flying dual-line stunt kites. His passion for the sport was kindled in the mid-80's while sitting in a hot tub with his wife at a Lincoln City oceanfront hotel. From this vantage point, Al spotted someone on the beach flying a stunt kite. It looked like so much fun that Al wanted to buy a similar kite immediately. It didn't happen that quickly, but his wife did surprise Al with a stunt kite on his next birthday.

Now you can watch Al flying on the beaches of Lincoln City because he is a valued and faithful flier at Lincoln City Kite Festivals. Al dazzles kite spectators with his fun-filled dual line kite performances, moving so quickly with his kite that he has earned the nickname, "twinkle toes".

Al formed several stunt kite teams and competed with Team Invisible Wind during the early and mid-90's. As a member of this team, Al traveled all over the United States and competed for the World Cup in Australia in 1995. His second team, Indeskyze, took second in Masters Team Ballet and Precision at the 1998 American Kitefliers Association competition in Ocean Shores, Washington.

Al grew up in Santa Monica, California. He now lives in Portland, Oregon where he works for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Al's love for kite flying has not abated because it is still fun and it releases the tensions of life. Come watch Al at the Lincoln City Summer and Fall Kite Festivals and fire up your passion for kite flying.
