Hi Lyn!

What a fun trip you have planned!

It's so hard to guess what your chances might be, as the number of beach combers on our beaches can range from in the low hundreds to tens of thousands per day. With the weather a little rough, I'd say that makes your chances a bit better, but if it's so bad that the "float fairies" can't make it out to put floats down then chances go down again.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but the circumstances wild right now that I would hate to guess! Good news is though that should you not find one on the beach, you can MAKE one yourself at the Jennifer L. Sears Glass Art Studio.

Thanks Lyn - enjoy your trip!

Hi, my husband and I will be in Oregon from January 27 - February 6, 2012. We are hoping to visit Lincoln City either on February 1, 2, or 3. We are from near New Orleans, Louisiana and are traveling to surprise our daughter for her 30th birthday in Portland.

The glass drop will still be going on when we get there and it sounds like so much fun and really intrigues me. I know it's weather permitting and y'all are really getting some tough weather the past few days, flooding. If the weather permits on one of the days we will be in Lincoln City, more probably February 2nd, what are the real, honest chances that we could walk or drive the 7 1/2 miles down the beach and actually find something? We look forward to visiting your city. Thanks so much, Lyn Brady

In 1949, my father went hunting in Alaska, and while there, he bought/found a few of the Japanese glass-ball net floats, and brought them home. I still have one, about the size of a soccer-ball...He said they were very common along the beaches, after each high tide..

Linda-

The Lincoln City Cultural Center has both a baby grand and an upright. I would suggest you call them and see about availability. Their number is 541-994-9994. I would talk to Vicky or Niki.

I will keep checking and let you know if I find out anything else.
