Volunteer Positions for the Plein Air Art Festival

All volunteers will have the opportunity to enter to win a prize. Prizes include a glass float, surfing lesson, culinary class, scrapbooking class, gift certificates from Tanger Outlet Mall, and the Bead Goes On, and more! The more shifts you work, the more opportunities you will have to win. To sign-up for a position please contact Launa DeGiusti at 541-557-1110 or launa@lincolncity.org

Set-Up:
This position involves helping to map out booth spaces, directing vendors to their assigned space, assisting with assembling tents, and other set-up duties as needed. Must be able to bend, lift, read maps and be well organized.

VCB Table:
This position involves manning the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau’s Table, providing information regarding the festival (schedule of activities, location of vendors, and so forth), providing tourist information for our area, and art sales for Plein Air Artists that are on sight painting. Smile…you are the face of the festival!

Booth Sitting:
Even vendors need a break! This position involves manning vendor’s booths while they use the restrooms or grab a bite to eat. This position works well for someone who really enjoys people, selling skills a real plus, but not necessary (after all, how long is that break?).

Alcohol Monitors:
Always wanted to be a police officer? Well this position might be the next best thing! Looking for personable individuals to peruse the festival, ensuring that no one over indulges on the wine and minors are only sipping the grape juice! Unfortunately handcuffs are not provided, we’ll leave the big issues for the “men in blue”.

Workshop Assistants:
Here is a great opportunity for those of you who love art to learn how to create a masterpiece from three highly respected, skilled, and knowledgeable professional artists. Preference given to those who are willing to commit for the entire workshop. Workshops include creating a silk scarf with Natural Dyes, Plein Air Painting by the Sea, and Sculpting the Female Torso in Clay. Workshop lengths vary from 4 hours to 2 days. Duties are varied and include assisting with set-up, distribution of materials, clean up, and more.

Stage Hands/Sound Master:
Always wanted to be part of a rock-n-roll band? Well here is your chance! Looking for someone to help ensure a smooth transition between performances. You’ll be helping musicians load and unload their equipment on and off stage, run the sound system, and play CD’s between sets. Perks include being able to mingle with the stars back stage and free autographs from the performers!

Quick Draw Contest:
This year’s festival will have two opportunities for Plein Air (Open Air) artists to compete in the Quick Draw Contest. During a Quick Draw Contest artists are given a blank canvass and 60 minutes in which to create their masterpiece. Looking for assistants to help with registration, answer questions, and gather the entries once the contest ends. Assistants are needed for both the Connie Hansen Gardens and on SW 51st in Taft.

Auction:
Once the Quick Draw Contest ends, the masterpieces are then auctioned off to benefit the Oregon Coast Community College’s Art Scholarship Fund. Seeking a couple of people to help with capturing information, taking payments, and moving art on and off stage. Fun action-paced position!

Mural:
Once in a Blue Moon Gallery is offering festival participants the opportunity to participate in creating art in the form of a large mural in which festival goers will be able to work together to create one masterpiece over the course of the weekend. This position requires great people skills, and the ability to explain the process over and over and over….

Recycling:
Here is your chance to do something good for your community and planet! This year’s festival will include a small scale recycling program, meaning we won’t ask you to dive in the garbage bins to pull out the chicken bones! The system is fairly simple, we’ll provide clearly labeled, see-through bins for recyclable materials and you help to educate festivalgoers about recycling. Changing of the bags from time to time is also required.

Tear-down/Clean Up:
Every good party has to come to an end. Looking for energetic souls to assist with the tearing down of the festival. Duties will include taking down tents, loading tables, chairs, and other items into ridiculously small vehicles. Great position for those who like to race the clock to see how quickly we can get the job done.
